In 1969, President Richard Nixon, an avid bowler, had a one-lane bowling alley installed under the North Portico of the White House. This unique addition to the presidential residence provided a private space for the President to enjoy his favorite pastime. While the alley was undoubtedly a source of relaxation and recreation for Nixon, it also serves as a quirky and unexpected piece of presidential history.
