The Santa Cruz Sand Crabs were a minor league baseball team based in Santa Cruz, California, active intermittently between 1888 and 1909. They competed in leagues such as the California State League and the California League. In 1909, under manager Fred Swanton, the Sand Crabs achieved a commendable record of 62 wins and 36 losses. However, during the second half of that season, both the Santa Cruz and San Jose teams disbanded. Notable players who donned the Sand Crabs uniform include Frank Arellanes and Ike Butler. Despite their eventual dissolution, the Sand Crabs remain a part of Santa Cruz's rich baseball history.
