The Flamingo Hotel and Casino opened on December 26, 1946, as one of the most glamorous resorts on the early Las Vegas Strip. Designed to bring Hollywood-style luxury to the desert, it was famously backed by mobster Bugsy Siegel, whose lavish vision came with a hefty price tag.
